As backcountry enthusiasts, we have simply accepted that on cold days, your skins need to go inside your jacket, close to your skin, to stop them from freezing. They're bulky, somewhat uncomfortable, and cold. For some, this is acceptable.
But not for us, because we're princesses.
The solution: a lightweight, insulated, heated skin bag that warms to just above freezing. Quickly slide your folded skins into the bag, and stash it in your pack. The small lightweight battery powering the heated elements does the same job as your body temp, without that bulk.
Oh, and we found this is a nifty place to put your lunch to stop it from freezing for the climb up while your skins are on your skis!
